Getting to know Acacia.

Acacia Marquees was established in 2012, by the founder and owner Martin Powell. After many years working in the event industry for other high-end marquee companies, Martin started Acacia. The goal - as it still is today - to take the knowledge and resources gained, and create truly unique events for all clients. Since Acacia began, Martin has worked tirelessly to produce innovative events, without compromise.

The goal when Acacia launched was simple — to bring that experience directly to couples and event organisers across Herefordshire, Powys and South Wales, and to build something with a genuine commitment to quality at every level.

Based in Hay-on-Wye on the Welsh/English border, Acacia has grown steadily since 2012 and has been recognised with multiple Welsh Wedding Awards — in 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.

Marquee Hire FAQs

  • Not at all — we supply everything needed to host your event. This includes the marquee structure, flooring, internal linings, furniture, lighting and dance floor. For services beyond the marquee itself — catering, bar, generator hire, toilets, photography and flowers — we have a network of trusted local suppliers we've worked with on real events. We're happy to pass these recommendations on to you directly.

  • Every marquee is priced individually based on size, configuration, location and finish. As a general guide, allow £25–£45 per day guest and £15–£20 per additional evening guest. Use our cost estimator on the wedding marquees page for an instant ballpark figure, or get in touch for a fully itemised quote tailored to your exact requirements.

  • It depends on the size and complexity of the installation. A smaller marquee for a garden party or private event can typically be erected in a day. A full wedding marquee installation usually takes between one and three days. We agree the installation schedule with you well in advance so you can plan around it. Collection takes place the day after your event.

  • In most cases no — marquees are temporary structures and don't require planning permission for short-term use. The exception is if the marquee is to remain in place for longer than 28 days, in which case you'd need to consult your local council. If you have any concerns about your specific site or location, we're happy to advise.

Every wedding is different — but the care we put into each one never changes. Check whether your date is available and we'll take it from there.
