The flooring and internal linings you choose define how the space looks and feels from the moment guests walk in. Every option below is supplied and installed by our team as part of the full marquee setup — and different options can be combined within the same installation to suit different areas of the venue.

Marquee Flooring & Interior Finishes

Flooring Options

Every marquee installation includes a flooring choice as standard. The right option depends on the ground conditions, the formality of the event and the overall finish you're looking for.

Coir Matting & Polypropylene Matting

Our standard flooring for all events. A lightweight, durable matting laid over a waterproof membrane that protects against ground moisture and provides a clean base across the full footprint of the marquee.

Traditional coir matting has been used in marquees for decades and remains available for those who prefer it. Polypropylene matting is the modern equivalent — updated in material and durability while retaining the same practical, hardwearing finish.

Suitable for: weddings, private events, shows, corporate events, walkways and entrance areas

Wooden Subfloor

A solid timber floor built on an aluminium and wooden barrier system that suspends pine floorboards above the ground. This evens out minor imperfections in the ground surface and provides a firm, flat base underfoot — ideal where a more substantial floor is required or where the ground surface beneath is uneven.

Worth noting — the subfloor sits on top of the ground rather than being embedded in it, so it will follow any significant gradient in the site below. We'll assess the ground during the site visit and advise accordingly.

Suitable for: weddings, formal events, catering areas, dedicated dance areas.

Cord Carpet

A clean, modern carpet covering laid over the wooden subfloor to give the marquee a fresh, brand new feel underfoot. We use new carpet for every installation it's requested for — it's then recycled at the end of each season.

The most popular colour for weddings is champagne — a warm light beige that works beautifully with ivory linings and natural wooden furniture. A range of other colours is available depending on your requirements.

Suitable for: weddings, formal events, any occasion where a dressed floor finish is required

Flooring can be mixed — different flooring types can be used across different areas of the same installation. A wooden subfloor with cord carpet in the dining area paired with coir matting in the catering space is a practical combination, as is a carpeted dance floor section within a larger coir-matted marquee. We'll advise on what works best for your layout during the site visit.

Internal Lining Options

Internal linings transform the raw structure of the marquee into a finished, dressed space. We offer two standard lining options — each creates a very different atmosphere — with additional colours and styles available on request.

Ivory Drape Linings

Our most popular lining choice for weddings and formal events. Full ivory draping across the roof, walls, swags and curtains creates a luxurious, elegant feel — a soft, neutral backdrop that works with any colour scheme and lets flowers, lighting and decoration take centre stage.

The ivory linings work particularly well with LED uplighters — the linings act as a canvas for colour washing, allowing you to transform the feel of the space for the evening's entertainment without changing a single decoration. Choose your colour, set the mood.

Other lining colours are available on request to match specific colour themes or specifications.

Blackout Starcloth / Star-Lighting

Black wall and roof linings that create a dramatic, immersive atmosphere — most commonly used to define the dance area within a marquee reception. The roof lining features integrated LED star lighting, replicating a night sky above the dance floor. The speed and intensity of the sparkle is electronically controlled, so the effect can be dialled up or down to suit the moment.

Starcloth can be used across the full marquee or applied to a specific area only — a popular approach is ivory draping throughout the dining space with blackout starcloth defining the dance floor, creating two distinct atmospheres within the same structure.

Clear Panels — Defining Space with Light

Beyond the standard lining options, clear PVC roof panels and panoramic window walls are one of the most effective ways to define different areas within the marquee and bring natural light and views into specific spaces. A clear roof section above the dining area feels entirely different to a starcloaked dance floor a few metres away — the contrast between the two creates a natural sense of transition between spaces. For full details on clear panel options visit our Marquees page, or read our dedicated clear roof guide before deciding whether this is right for your event.
